AFCAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria

Applicants going to appear in the AFCAT 19 should ensure that he/she is fulfilling all the preliminary eligibility circumstances till the date of examination. Minimum Essential Qualifications Flying Branch:

All the aspirants must fulfill the essential qualification for the said admission. Applicants need to passed 10+2 level exam with at least 60% marks each in Physics and Math along with:

  1. Applicants must be the holder of Graduation with at least 3 years degree course with 60% marks in any branch from any acknowledged University or equivalent.

OR

  1. Applicants must be the holder of B.E./B.Tech 4-year degree course from an accepted University with a least of 60% marks or equivalent.

OR

  • Applicants who have passed the above-mentioned section examination of Aeronautical Society of India or Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) from any accepted University/ Institution with least 60% marks or equivalent.

Minimum Essential Qualifications Ground Duty (Technical) Branch (Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE (L):

Applicants must pass the 10+2 in Physics and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks each and least 4 years degree graduation, integrated post-graduation prerequisite in Technology/ Engineering from any accepted University OR cleared Sections I and II exam of Aeronautical Society of India or Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers with a least of 60% marks or equivalent in the in Communication, Electrical, Electronics, IT and Instrumentation & Control Engineering.

Minimum Essential Qualifications Ground Duty (Technical) Branch (Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) {AE (M)}:

Applicants must pass the 10+2 in Physics and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks each and least 4 years degree graduation, integrated post-graduation prerequisite in Technology/ Engineering from any accepted University OR cleared Sections I and II exam of Aeronautical Society of India or Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or with a least of 60% marks or equivalent in the in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Aircraft, Mechanical, Mechatronics, and Industrial  Engineering.

Minimum Essential Qualifications Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branch (Administration& Logistics):

3 years Graduate Degree in any branch from an accepted university with a least 60% marks or equivalent or passed section I & II examination of Aeronautical Society of India or Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) from an accepted university with least of 60% imprints or equivalent.

Minimum Essential Qualifications Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branch (Accounts):

Minimum 3-year degree courses in B.Com from an accepted Institution or University with at least 60% marks or equivalent.

Minimum Essential Qualifications NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch):

NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ certificate is collected on or post 01.01.17 is obligatory. You need to pass 10+2 with 60% marks each in Maths and Physics. 3 Year degree /Graduates with a minimum of 60% marks in any branch from a certified University or equivalent. OR 4 years course B.E./B.Tech with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent OR Candidates who have cleared Sections I and II exam of Aeronautical Society of India or Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or with a least of 60% marks or equivalent.

Examination fee for AFCAT 2019 

Candidates need to pay the online application examination fee of Rs. 250/- (non-refundable), the fee is not relevant for NCC special entry & Meteorology.

Nationality:  Aspirants should be a citizen of India.

AFCAT 2019 Age Limit 

The age limit for the branch has been given in the below table.

  • Flying Branch through AFCAT and NCC Special Entry: Age of applicants should be 20 to 24 years as on 01 Jan 2020. Upper age limit will be permissible up to 26 years for aspirants holding the valid and recent Commercial Pilot License provided by DGCA (India).
  • Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch: Applicants age must be 20 to 26 years as on 01 Jan 2020.

AFCAT 2019 Physical and Medical Standard 

Plan for the Physical and Medical Standards for the appearing aspirants are provided here. Contenders ought to physically healthy as per mentioned physical norms. Applicants need to appear for Medical Examination at AFCME, IAM, Bangalore or New Delhi as per aspirants suggested by the AFSB. If applicants do not report on allotted center as per date for medicals will be disqualified. Women aspirants need to attend the Medical Examination by a Medical Board comprising of female/ male/ doctors/ Gynecologist/ specialists/. Flying Branch: The minimum height for men and women aspirants for Flying Branch is described 162.5 cms, Length of Leg minimum – 99 cms and maximum Max -120 cms. Thigh Length; maximum -64 cms, Sitting Height: minimum – 81.5 cms, and maximum – 96 cm.

Ground Duty (Technical/Non-technical) Branch: Male candidates for Ground Duty (Technical/Non-technical) Branch minimum height is 157.5 cms, and women candidates, minimum height is 152 cms. For Gorkhas and person come into Garhwal and Kumaon and hills of North Eastern region of India, will be eligible to get 5 cms height relaxation. Candidates (men & women) from Lakshadweep, will get 2 cms height relaxation.

AFCAT 2019 Visual Standard 

Visual Standards: Applicant has to meet with below-given branch wise visual standards:

Visual Standards for Flying Branch: Applicants those are not able to see without spectacles are not eligible to participate in this branch.

  • The minimum distant vision of the applicants should be 6/6 in first eye and 6/9 in second correctable to 6/6 only for Hypermetropia. Colour vision CP-1, Hypermetropia: +2.0 d Sph, Manifest Myopia: Nil, RetinoscopicMyopia: –0.5 in any meridian permitted, and Astigmatism: +0.75 D Cyl (with + 2.0 DMax).

AFCAT 2019 Selection Procedure

Step 1: AFCAT – Air Force Common Admission Test

  1. All the entries other than NDA and CDSE and for all branches, candidates have to undergo the AFCAT.
  2. The AFCAT 2019 Written Test is conducted twice a year in February and August.
  3. The AFCAT Advertisement inviting applications for AFCAT are out in June and December. Applicants are applying as per the notification.
  4. The Written Test is conducted all across India by the Indian Air Force.

Step 2 :

If you have cleared successfully Step 1, you will receive a call letter to report to any one of the Air Force Selection Board located at Dehradun, Varanasi, Gandhinagar, and Mysuru. At the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB), you undergo following tests in order to ascertain your suitability and gauge your potential as an officer in the Indian Air Force.

Stage I – Testing

  • Officer intelligence Rating Test
  • Picture Perception and Discussion Test

Stage – 1 is a Screening Test. Those who qualify Stage – I are eligible to undergo Stage – II Testing.

The Stage – I disqualified candidates are routed back after the announcement of result.

Stage II Testing

  • All Stage – I qualified candidates to undergo the following test as part of Stage – II Testing during the next 4-5 days. The fifth day is for CPSS Testing ( Flying Branch).
  • Psychological Tester is a written test that is conducted by the psychologist.
  • Group Tests is interactive indoor and outdoor activities which are a combination of Mental and Physical work.
  • Interview involves a personal conversation with an interviewing Officer.
  • Applicants who have applied for flying branch and have been recommended will also have to undergo computerized  Pilot Selection System (CPSS) Test.

These test will be explained to you detail before they are conducted at the Selection Board.

AFCAT 2019 Exam Syllabus and Pattern 

Applicants should check the syllabus of examination and then only go to attend the exam: The Online examination for AFCAT and EKT is consisting of objective type questions in English only. 3 marks will be given for each right answer and 1 mark will be subtracted for each wrong answer. There is no mark deduction for the un-attempted question.

  1. The recruitment board will send the admit card through the email id provided by applicants during the form submission. Applicants those have not got the email or not able to open the same have to visit at the https://afcat.cdac.in and download the hall ticket after 1st February 2019.
  2. If applicants are not able to download the admit card from the official website then they have to report to the AFCAT query Cell at C-DAC, Pune. They can also send their queries by sending the mail to [email protected]

AFCAT 2019 Written Exam Schedule

AFCAT 2019 Result 

Candidates those will pass the exam of AFCAT entry will be preceded for further selection round. IAF will upload the list of aspirants who have scored the minimum qualifying imprints in the Online AFCAT 2019 Notification as per fixed date and time. Aspirants those have successfully cleared the online AFCAT shall be intimated to report at 1 of the Air Force Selection Boards.

Candidates applied for Meteorology Branch and NCC Special Entry will be intimated directly for AFSB test at 1 of the AFSB venue. The AFSB centers are at Dehradun, Gandhinagar, Mysuru, and Varanasi.

AFCAT 2019 Cut off Marks 

Applicants have to do minimum required score according to norms. There are different cut off marks for each trade. Cut off marks will be decided later on once the result will be published online. Applicants those will not score up to the required criteria will be rejected during the preparation of the final merit list. The cut off will be uploaded online on Indian Air Force official web site very soon once the outcome of the written examination will be published. AFCAT 2019 Final Merit List 

Applicants those have collected the minimum required marks in the written exam and AFSB will be considered for further selection. After clear, the AFSB IAF will place a final merit list on the basis of combined score collected by aspirants in the written test and AFSB test.

All right to prepare the merit list and shortlist the applicants is secured with IAF. As per norms around 10% of the opening are reserved for NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ certificate holders into the Ground Duty (Technical & Non-technical) Branches.

Training (Date and Duration):

According to the merit list, applicants found the fit and fine certified after medical checkup will be sent for training strictly in different branches/ sub-branches. As per the schedule, the training for the said positions is going to be commencing in the month of January 2020 for entire courses. The estimated training duration for Flying & Ground Duty (Technical) Branches is 74 weeks and Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branches estimated training duration is 52 weeks which will be provided at Air Force Training Establishments.
